If you do not already make your own bread I would strongly encourage you to do so. It is more nutritional, very easy and a great opportunity for experimentation, but, most importantly, it tastes vastly better than shop bought.
There are lots of books and websites to help. I would recommend Andrew Whitley, Bread Matters, or Elizabeth David, English Bread and Yeast Cookery. Once you’ve got the basics (and been warned what to watch out for), try the Fresh Loaf page for help and ideas. Ask around too – I was taught to bake by my father.
